Explanation of Church Closure
Letter from Core Life Church's elder team
Dear friends
As many of you know, we have been faced with difficult decisions concerning the direction and leadership
at Core Life Church. Particularly, it has been decided that Core Life Church will be closing as a church;
our last Sunday service will be Sunday, November 6th at 5pm.
This decision, as you would expect, has been very difficult for the elders (Joe, Marc, Bryant,
and Lenny) because we want to honor our Lord and Savior as we seek to lead the church on the mission
He has called us all to (1 Peter 5). It has also been particularly painful because we love the people
at Core Life and want God’s best for you.
Throughout the last months we have experienced some good things in our community, including new core
groups, ministry volunteers, and outreach. At the same time, we have seen the attendance of our church
drop steeply downward--this has been the trend over the last two years or so. In evaluating our resources
and stability as a church, we have come to realize that we are unable to provide the opportunities for
ministry and training that our people could receive elsewhere. As a result, we feel God calling us to
trust Him and close Core Life Church.
There are many more thoughts that went into the decision, and please know that we did not come to this
\lightly as we feel a tremendous burden to do right before God and before you. In the end, we felt God
calling us to trust Him and send our congregation to other local churches that are Jesus-centered,
missional-minded, and able to care for one another in real community. We are excited for how God will use us
for His glory and thankful for the time we spent together as a church family.
